Health and sanitation problems in tribal and rural areas of Nabarangpur & Cuttack district is very acute as govt. sponsored facilities are meager in comparison to the local needs the people are primarily depending on the village quacks who charge exorbitant rates for common diseases from the illiterate tribal people. Even the diseases instead of being cured gets severe in many cases and resulting in loss of life AAKASH, organized two health check up camps during the reporting year. During the camp period free medicines were distributed to the poor needy persons. AAKASH is in constant touch with different agencies to initiate community based health programme which will be one of our sustainable efforts. Besides awareness on health particularly, HIV, AIDS, Malaria were organized in three places in Tentulikhunti and Salipur block of Nabarangpur & Cuttack district respectively. The awareness was raised through public meeting and specialized persons delivered speeches on the diseases and their prevention.
